JAVA – BROMO – IJEN – BALI OVERLAND

DAY 01: ARRIVAL YOGYAKARTA

Upon arrival at Yogyakarta airport, transfer to hotel. On the way to hotel, we visit Prambanan Hindu Temple, this place is a magnificent reminder of Java’s Hindu past. Right in the center of the inner walls, triumphing over the nearby plains, the 47 m high Loro Jonggrang is dedicated to the god Shiva. Its central positioning in the field of treasure chambers, statues and shrines for mythical riding-animals, emphasizes its importance. The delicately sculpted bas-reliefs tell of the old Indian story of Ramayana. The whole area is a true open air museum of Javanese antiquity.

DAY 02: BOROBUDUR TEMPLE & SURROUNDING

Morning discovery the mystery and history of the world famous Borobudur temple, one of the biggest and most impressive Buddhist monuments ever erected by mankind. It lies tranquil against the splendid background of the Menoreh mountain range, some 40 km away from Jogyakarta. The terraced temple tells the times and lives of the Lord Buddha. The well over 1500 bas-reliefs on the inner walls, transformed a hill into a great prayer in stone. Ascending to the top equals a spiritual journey. Two smaller Buddhist temples of Mendut and Pawon are also visited. Afterwards Back to Yogyakarta for Sultan palace, water castle, bird market then  Kota Gede for fabrication of silver and gold, and the last one is to see the making of batik (Indonesian traditional cloth) Then transfer back to hotel. In the evening transfer to local restaurant for dinner and followed by Ramayana dance performance

DAY 03: JOGYAKARYA - BROMO

After an early morning breakfast at hotel, drive to train station to East Java then pick up by bus and drive to Tosari Bromo for check in. Rest whole night to refresh for the next day Mt. Bromo excursion.

DAY 04: MT.  BROMO EXCURSION - BANYUWANGI

A very early morning, we start our trip to sacred Mount Bromo by jeep and horse. After a short but steep jeep ride, we will take you across a wide open terrain on horseback. It is the easiest way to reach the inner sanctum of a huge caldera. There you have to climb some stairs before reaching the top of the active Bromo volcano. It is quite a sight to witness a glorious sunrise (if weather permit), coming up from the eastern Tengger Mountain Range. Only when the first rays of dawn appear, you realize the splendor of the environment. A wide sea of sand, bordered by the highest mountain tops of Java, resembles a moonscape! Relax for a while until departure at Banyuwangi for accommodation.

DAY 05: BANYUWANGI – MT. IJEN EXCURSION - LOVINA

Today, you will participate in one of the most inspiring trips. Early morning we leave the hotel and drive up to Ijen. There we start a moderate hike, which will take you in few hours up to the peak of Mt Ijen. On the way, you will meet the sulpher people, those tough locals who carry 60 kg baskets, filled with the "yellow gold". The sulpher mining is done at the base of Crater Lake, way up.  Once you arrive there, the views are truly stunning. Whatever direction you turn, mountain tops peak aloft the clouds. Down at the jade colored lake, steam from deep down below is transformed into yellow crystals… After an easy descends, we return to the hotel to take a rest.

After rest, drive to Ketapang, a ferry will bridge the short distance between Java and the next island, Bali. By the small Bali Strait only, one could not judge the tremendous differences between both islands. On the other side, a candi bentar (typical Balinese temple gate) marks the end of Islamic territory. You have arrived on an island where Hinduism is pervasive. From Gilimanuk, the bustling port of North Bali, our road leads along the north coast via Pulaki temple all the way to Lovina.

DAY 06: LOVINA & SURROUNDING

Morning is free at leisure after long trip from Java

In the evening, visit Hot Spring Banjar. The hot spring comes from hillside that flows down to fill the pool .There are three pools: eight-dragon spout water from their mouths into the lower, larger pool.

There is a slight sulphur smell to the water and it has a silky, even slimy, softness.

And this place is really an absolute Spa healer especially for Balinese people.

DAY 07: LOVINA-BEDUGUL – TANAH LOT - UBUD

Morning dolphin excursion at Lovina beach and if the weather permit, we can witness the beautiful sun run

Depart for Bedugul with its beautiful views of Lake Beratan and Ulun Danu Temple. En route stops will also be made to visit Alas Kedaton monkey forest, a natural reserve of monkeys and bats. After Local Food lunch, visit Tanah Lot Temple is a Balinese Hindu temple on the rock located in the middle of sea. This temple is one of the famous tourist destinations in Bali with spectacular view of the ocean and sunset.
